What Not to Wear to the Office

The truth is, if you had some spinach stuck in your teeth, you’d definitely want someone to tell you. Well, the same goes for someone whose shirt is too low and skirt is too short. We need to look out for one another, right? Whether your dress code at work is casual or smart there are still some things which you should avoid wearing to the office.

Here are our tips on what not to wear to the office:

1. Flip Flops
If there`s one thing that would show your colleagues that you have given up - that would definitely be a flip flop in the office.

2. Bright Colours
Standing out in the office in bright colours pink and orange or wearing neo jackets is a big no-no. Remember that using too many colours to complete your office look will be notable in your work place for all the wrong reasons. Infusing a little bit of colour into your office look is a definite must: but remember less is more.

4. Jingly Jewellery
Your office colleagues can hear you coming from far, far away; from neurological point of view you’re interrupting their minds ability to concentrate on whatever they were previously absorbed with before turning their attention to hating you.

5. Sheer Clothing
Whether it's a thin t-shirt, a delicate blouse, or a slightly see-through skirt, it's just not right for a workplace setting. Save it… and the cute bra you wear with, for the off-duty situation, or perhaps weekend, please.

6. Unforgiving fabrics
You may think that natural fabrics offer a quality product, but when dressing for the office, wear-ability is more important. Avoid skirts that crease and trousers that shine. And remember, no matter how long or demanding your day is you want to give the impression that you can easily handle it – and if your clothes look sad, drained and crumpled then so will you.

7. Individuality
I’m not saying it’s bad to be unique, but just know the consequences of it. And yes, I agree — absolutely people should not judge you based on what we wear or how we look. But unfortunately that’s not the world we live in. Remember it`s harder to get your ideas across (especially older generations) and to take you seriously. You will have to try much harder to gain respect from other people, so just be aware of the consequences if you decide to dye your hair neon red.
