The Top 5 Questions to Ask when Searching for Serviced Offices

If you're on the hunt for the perfect serviced office, asking the following questions will help you get to the heart of the matter and seal the deal you're after!

1. What’s the best you can do?

Be honest and upfront about which other centres you are interested in, what your budget is and how flexible you are. Serviced office providers, especially those that are small or independent, are often willing to be flexible but those who don’t ask don’t get. Don’t be shy to talk money upfront: if you paint an accurate picture, the provider can help you in the best way possible and you both win.

2. Are there any hidden costs?

Some providers might offer a too-good-to-be-true rental price for the office.  Beware: if it seems to too good to be true most of the time it is. Sneaky serviced office providers add monthly charges for internet useage, telecoms, office branding, access to break-out areas or even a drop of milk in your morning tea. Make sure you know exactly what is included, whats not and try to come to an understanding on price.

3. What are your terms and conditions?

Before you agree to sign on the dotted line make sure you fully understand your contract. When are you allowed access to your office? How many sets of keys are provided? What is the centre’s policy on visitors? There are many details that vary greatly from centre-to-centre and could make all the difference to your decision.

4. What else have you got?

You want a serviced office provider that sells more than just square feet. Look for a company that have meeting rooms, equipment hire and professional administrative support services as well as alternative spaces for you to expand into. There may be a time when your business or your needs change: will the centre be able to accommodate you in the long term?

5. What do you do for fun around here?

A serviced office manager with excellent local knowledge may be able to introduce you to the local business community, help you out in a pickle or simply tell you where the best Friday afternoon watering hole is. Ask about local networking events, and how the centre is connected: are they on social media, are they well known and more importantly, try to ascertain whether they are well liked.
